Electric “Mercedes” will be charged in five minutes
The “cargo” division of Daimler AG invested $ 60 million in the Israeli startup StoreDot, which develops “organic” batteries with fast charging. The money will be spent on the introduction of technology into mass production. This is reported on the website Electrek.
StoreDot technology is to create semiconductors of nano-crystals, the basis for which are peptides. The company claims that their developed battery pack with a capacity of 75 kilowatt hours fully charged in five minutes and provides a run of up to 480 kilometers. More about the technology is not known, but it should become mass by 2022 already.
In “Daimler” believe that the StoreDot technology is especially interesting for commercial vehicles. In combination with the effective use of energy recovery, it will allow less frequent charging of cars and increase mileage on one charge.
At the motor show in Frankfurt, Mercedes-Benz presented a prototype of the mini-electric car EQA. The all-wheel-drive model was equipped with two electric motors with a total capacity of 272 horsepower (500 Nm) and a battery with a capacity of 60 kilowatt-hours, which supports wireless charging and connection to any home and public charging stations. In addition, a special feature of the hatchback was the virtual grille of the radiator.
