Hyundai declassified the compact crossover Kona

Hyundai revealed a new compact crossover – Kona, named after the city on the island of Hawaii. The model received a wide engine range and rich equipment, as well as an optional all-wheel drive and two types of suspension.

In Hyundai said that the crossover is built on a completely new platform. It is prepared specifically for compact SUVs and “sets new standards in the B-SUV segment”. On the dimensions of the model the company did not tell, however, the message says about the most spacious in the classroom salon.

Kona received the LED head light, but whether it will be standard equipment or will go into the list of options is not specified.

Depending on the market, the crossover will be offered with four different engines. One of them – an atmospheric petrol unit in volume of 2,0 liters and capacity of 149 horsepowers (179 Nanometers) which is combined with a six-step “automatic machine”. Acceleration to “hundreds” takes ten seconds, the maximum speed is 194 kilometers per hour.

The 1.6-liter Gamma turbo with 177 forces and 265 Nm of torque entered the scale. It works paired with a seven-stage “robot” with two clutches and accelerates Kona to 100 kilometers per hour in 7.7 seconds. The maximum speed is 210 kilometers per hour. In the European market will be available a liter three-cylinder turbo engine paired with a six-speed “mechanics”. At 120 horsepower and 172 Nm of torque, the acceleration to “hundred” takes 12 seconds. In Europe and other markets there will be a diesel engine 1.6.

Hyundai Kona received a front suspension of the McPherson type, but at the rear, depending on the type of drive, there will be either a torsion bar (for front-wheel drive modification) or a multi-lever (with full drive).

The equipment of the new crossover included modern safety systems and assistance to the driver. This, among other things, automatic emergency braking in the face of a frontal collision and the management of “long-range” light, as well as active retention in the band.
